NONADA.
INHABITING THE CITY. SCULPTING INTO STONES.
WALKING AGAINST THE CURRENT.
Between the subtle and the abrupt, the hard and the fluid, the sharp and the round, today we begin the first "inhabitation" of Largo do Século (Bairro Alto, Lisbon) in the series of creative workshops that make up A TEORIA DA ÁGUA (Theory of Water), a performative installation in the urban space taking place within the context of the #PEDRAS2025 festival organized by cem centro em movimento. Initially, I spoke of a process involving six site-specific laboratories for the construction of the installation scheduled for October 18th at 10 pm. This event on the 18th is a given, and everyone is invited. However, I noticed that the "installation" is already underway. And I also realized that it's not even an "installation" at all! Although this is the term used for this type of work in the arts, what took place today in Lisbon's historic center was an "inhabitation" of space with the sweetness of everything that involves the intention, or the desire (TO SPEAK OF DESIRE) to "dance," in the most expanded interpretation this word can have. We meditated while walking. We walked backward. We touched the air with the fragility of our fingertips. We drew 8s or infinities in nothingness (NONADA, to recall Guimarães Rosa). We imprinted vectors, that is, we impelled movement in the other's body. We touched with our skin and with our spirit. We imitated to find something new within ourselves. "We found something we didn't know we found." Today's experience, which focused on a process of "continuation" beyond the difficulties, the discomfort, the noise, the rush, is already what I want to plant with this thing I call THE THEORY OF WATER. Next Friday, September 19th, we continue!
